I have updated our website (http://www.nysrpa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=881&Itemid=196) with directions on how to get to the Legislative Office Building for the Feb. 28 lobby day.

Both the Ulster Co. Federation (http://fscuc.com/) and LI-based SAFE (http://www.nysafe.org/) are looking into renting buses to take people to and from Albany. If anyone else is planning on doing the same please send me (jrieper@nysrpa.org) their name, contact info and approximate cost ASAP.

You can also follow the event on our Facebook event page (http://www.facebook.com/events/204049709733039/).

FEBRUARY 8 UPDATE:

The itinerary for the 28th is the same: make an appointment in the morning to see your reps. inside the Legislative Office Building, then come outside to Capitol Park for the speakers at noon. It does not appear we're all going to fit inside the Well.

Here is an updated flyer (http://www.nysrpa.org/files/lobbydayflyer.pdf) for distribution.

Our assemblymen and other reps ( you think?) will accept "making appointments" based on individual (people's) calls to meet?...as suggested by the flyer?.....I would think for the number of people attending, they would only make appointments with "Groups" of people....

Anyone have some feedback on this before I try going down a big black hole and come up empty ???

Just call their Albany office and say you would like to meet with them in their office that day. If they have been getting a lot of requests from people, they may set aside a time to see a bunch of you at once. It is a good idea to make an appointment because there are committee meetings that day and they may only be available at certain times.

So there is an organized rally with scheduled buses to get there...and we don't even know if our reps will have the time to see us?...because they may be in committee meetings. We are urged to make individual appointments?

I'm going.....and so are a handful of hearty souls I know who are going with me for a 4:30 AM Bus departure.....showing our resolve....but this whole thing sounds a bit loosey-goosey.

If you can't meet with them, you can meet with their staff. We have done this before. It isn't an issue.
