OK, so last weekend I took part in the GDS from Insights Training Center. All I can really say is that it was a ton of fun!
We started with the basics of the pump and the semi. Pro's and con's of both. Ammo types and differences as well.
Then we worked on the dry skills to work and deliver the rounds where needed. Transitions, changeovers, loading and unloading of course.
Then it was time to shoot. We started out slow and methodical to build the basics to a solid foundation, then we started the fun stuff.
Shooting from alternate positions, cover, moving, etc., were covered and drilled a lot.
I am pretty sure I went through almost 400 rounds of #8 birdshot, about 150 slugs and another 100 or so of Buckshot. Tie in the handgun drills and I think I popped another 100 or so downrange. It's rare that I get all jazzed up after a shoot or a training class but I was flying high last Sunday Eve!!
Greg Hamilton, the founder of Insights, was even more entertaining and informative than usual. Greg's background is from the Special Forces and he is now in a contract for some real cool hi-tech, go fast stuff. Greg developed the shooting curriculum and keeps it fresh. I have done a ton of training with Greg and the others, and I coach most of the classes and co-instruct a lot too. They are top notch and very current.
I urge you to look them up and see what they are doing in the area or close by. Their training is well worth the effort, time, and minimal expense.
