i just found this link which seems to clarify for sure im guessing? Check it out. http://magfaq.tripod.com/mags1.htm#2o

Made by Okay Industries, these mags had black plastic followers up until the early 1990's when the "anti-tilt" green follower was made Mil-Spec, though commercial mags continued to use up the supply of black followers for some time. Made from 1972-1994. Floorplates stamped:

    [1970's Production]

    (Pony) CAL. 5.56 MM
    COLT'S FIREARMS DIVISION
    COLT INDUSTRIES
    HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.

    [Recent Production]

    (Pony) CAL. 5.56 MM
    COLT'S MFG. CO. INC.
    HARTFORD, CONN.
    U.S.A.

So at least based on this I feel comfortable knowing the floorplate and black follower is accurate to 1970's and the fact that you guys have given me great advice on what it should look like. thanks for the help guys much appreciated. Any extra input still welcome though

ok, my question is what kind of idiot made up this none sence law for magazines ? if you guys live in restricted states, you can't have any magazine over than 10 rounds unless it's a preban magazine then it can be 30rds.. So why can't they just let we just use any other 30rd mag ? Thanks

lol Im sure thats what everyone wonders including myself which is why im asking so many questions on the issue...I guess the ones from pre ban time frame are grandfathered in cause at the time they were made they were legal to own in NY before the ban went into effect. maybe they thought the supplies would run out eventually and become very scarce? But it seems like theres still alot of them available. And as much of a hassle as it is at least we can still use pre ban mags. i think other states like Cali cant use these mags whether pre ban or not. I guess it all depends how the state laws were written which it seems in most states are very vague.

There is a decent supply of preban mags but eventually they will run out. Imagine how hard they will be to find in 30 years!

We won't need them in 5-10 years. AWB's will be overturned via federal court action, and it'll be quick because only about 5 states have them. Soon after that or before, mag capacity laws will be struck down as well. The guys in California are already working on getting rid of their magazine laws and should have that done within the year.

    Default C-Products

At the gun show a few weeks ago at Empire State Plaza, there was a guy set up in a booth selling what he advertised as pre-ban 30-round AR15 magazines. The floor plates just said "C-Products / Newington CT" and the magazines had no other markings or stamps. They look awfully new for being "pre-ban" -- does anyone know anything about C-Products and if these magazines are in fact pre-ban?

Interestingly, while I was at the table, there was a uniformed NYS Trooper browsing through the guy's stuff.

Yes, they are DEFINTELY post ban. C-Products is the only company that manufacturers post ban magazines without a date stamps or LEO/MIL only stamp. There was a douche on another similar forum to this buying C Products mags putting used floor plates on them and selling them as preban.

    Rich,

Thanks for the info. I'm surprised this guy had the stones to pull that off at the gun show. I had a strong suspicion that something was amiss and you confirmed it.

Equally skeevy is the guy you mentioned. It's pretty ridiculous that there are people out there doing that sort of thing, but really I guess it's not unexpected. There are lots of douches out there and these guys are just two of them. At least verifiable pre-ban AR mags aren't hard to find and aren't too terribly expensive, so I'll have to stick with that route.

My real quest is to try to find pre-ban P90 magazines. I've gotten conflicting information from a few sources on whether or not any exist in civilian hands in the US (and whether they'd work on the present-day PS90's, or only on the original P90's which apparently fired rounds with a longer bullet length). I'm assuming I'll have better luck coming across a leprechaun riding a unicorn. heh
