Rich is dead on with his advisement regarding the NY AWB.
Scary fact is even many dealers don't know the laws, much less specifics. Luckily Rich is able to and has advised well here on the forum. This AWB info should be stickied if it isn't alrdy.

However, even "threads on a barrel" is not totally correct....yes indeed if it implies something can still be screwed on and off with those threads present.....but they can still be there ( I'm told), if a muzzle cap or muzzle brake replaces the FH..and is either welded or silver-soldered on. It then becomes the (necessary) fixed-part of the barrel, but underneath the "threads" would still be there.

Let me ask by example.....can I buy this gun?----> http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=279082596

Futhermore....if "yes" for NYS....can I later buy another stock, etc...and other parts, as long as (now) I"m in compliance with 922r code....with regards to US vs foreign content of the 16 or so parts that are part of that 922r code? Presumbly, I can go with surplus 30 rd mags as long as I can determine age, like pre-94.... to finish this possible scenario.

Yes, the threads do not need to be removed. They just can't be "accessible" basically. If you perm attach a muzzle device you are good to go!

Going further.....why is a "muzzle-brake",permanently attached ( say, silver-soldered-on)... OK? Meaning , why is doing this to the original flash hider , not OK?

Who defines a flash hider vs muzzle brake?.....

I know we're now on the "fine-cut" of the question....but this "change-out to a permanent muzzle brake" is something I hear all the time...so I'm asking.

Thanks, guys for all your patience........don't want to be involved in any "do-overs".

Typically but not always a muzzle brake has a end opening just large enough for a round to pass through, a flash hider is open ended.

Not available at any price legally in NY state thanks to this Governor and his lap dogs in the legislature who betrayed us and sold the freedom of our children for a 20 minute press conference. Do not forgive. Do not forget. Vote against them in the primary. Vote against them in the general election. Do not fail to act. Do not fail to vote against them every time. Every time.
