Default NYS hand gun transfer question

OK since dumb ol me doesn't reside in NY (plz note sarcasm)

I sold 2 handgunsto my SIL. They were shipped from PA to NY thru an FFL

NY FFL holder says you can't transfer 2 handguns at the same time. I do it frequently in PA...only issue in my PA guy has to fill out some PSP form and fax it.

Is there a statute that states only 1 handgun at a time....ohhhh and local Sheriff Dept doesn't have a problem (Chemung County)

Can someone in the know quote me a law stating either way.

Much thanks guys...you always set me straight

I belive that Chemung County will allow us to register only one handgun per week. Seems that the NY FFL that you are using should be able to hold the second gun for another week.

Anyone know of other issues that are in play?

SIL started the transfer on one piece Murr, the Sheriffs Office told her they would gladly do 2 at a time. Less work on their end.

That is not a state law.. its county. In Schuyler County there is no problem, I'll be adding 4 new ones to my permit soon.

That must be something that is county specific. I thought that had to do with the purchase of new guns. I added 5 to my permit last year at the same time when my FIL passed away. But that was a little different I guess.

Maybe the FFL didn't want to fill out the multiple handgun purchase form.

I had a Delaware county dealer pull the same crap on me last year. He said the county wouldn't let him.
I told him BS !! I had two coupons,so the county had no say in it. He just didn't want to fill out the extra form
and send it to ATF and a copy to NYS.

did you know its an actual crime to purposely transfer things in such a way to AVOID a multiple handgun transfer?

Example...waiting a few weeks between transfers of each pistol, etc.

Ive had dealers give me issues in the past also. They were afraid of being tagged for doing such transfers to me and bringing unwanted attention to themselves. To that I say, o well, too bad. i saved my cash up, and bought what i wanted and when i wanted. its bad enough we have the purchase coupon system crap in place where you gotta wait WEEKS on end to get "ALLOWED" to own another pistol. When you already HAVE 30 pistols and another 50 rifles....does the judge or state really think you need that Ruger MKII to take over the world or commit a crime??

    its all dumb

Yea tell me about it. I bought 2 new pistols 16 days ago and am still waiting on the coupons to come. They are gonna love me when i'm back up there next week for 1 more purchase i made yesterday of a new beretta 92 compact!. I'm getting sick of waiting.

I think they make you wait on purpose. They must think that if they make you wait weeks it will deter you from buying pistols. Well guess what i'm just gonna buy them atleast by the pair.

here in Steuben, it takes like 10 minutes to get a coupon. The pain is having to drive clear to Bath to get the stupid coupon...
