    Question Gun Law

Would like help to learn if I can carry/conceal on my own land or have a shot gun with us when I and my family is outside? Also, does the firearm have to be unloaded? If no one knows the answer but has a direction for me to look for the answer, I'd appreciate learning that too. I'm in Steuben County, Town of Bath and Village of Savona.

If you have a pistol permit you can carry concealed on your own property, the pistol permit is for concealed carry only so you are good to go.

As for having a shotgun with you when you are outside that probably depends on your environment. If you live in the suburbs or close to other homes you might get the cops called on you by a neighbor, etc. I'm not sure about the legality of carrying a shotgun around your yard and it may be best to ask a local attorney for clarification.

I carry guns back and forth between the house and shop all the time and will frequently go out back to shoot behind the house. Then again I don't live in a suburb/village so that obviously might make a big difference.

Thank you Rich. Sounds like I'm good with a consealed carry permit. I too thought a shot gun might draw attention in the village. Right now I'm working to finish remodel on the house and list it. I'm in a search for a larger unrestricted parcel to move onto, possibly in Steuben County if price is right.
