Wow, great news. Microstamping was stopped and COBIS is done. Smells like a win to me!

Y'know, that Cuomo guy is starting to grow on me. I figured with his name and connections he'd be a "more of the same" NY governor, but I'm happy to admit I've been pleasantly surprised.

On the radio they said the state wants to use the CoBIS budget to hook crime labs into a national system that has gotten several hundred matches. Does anybody know what that system is? Does it need fired cases too?

Holy crap you mean it's really possible for NYS to stop wasting tax dollars? Wait nope there still really good at it. Glad they finally got rid of CoBIS tho. I guess it's a start.

is Cobis just unfunded and running dry or...?

my question is, do we have to still do compliance crap for cobis or are they literally shut down??

I'm hoping this means they're shut down.

Part B of the budget bill signed by the governor says:

"Section 1. Section 396-ff of the general business law is REPEALED.
S 2. This act shall take effect immediately."

General business law section 396-ff is the CoBIS law. So it's not just unfunded, it's being struck from the lawbooks.
